I almost hate you Weddings. You are a monster. You start off small and cute, containing a couple's vow of love and comittment for one another. A small, simple ceremony with a cake reception at home. An overdue event that proves to everyone that the couple has matured and are building a home together with their children. Then you evole and grow and now I can't recognize you anymore. A church wedding complete with reception dinner at a hall down the street. Paper invitations replacing personal phone calls. MOH and 1 bridesmaid where there were none before. All this done in three weeks. Kinda amazing actually.

I always wanted a big, grand wedding. Gotta make sure I give it 1.5 years to plan though. LOL

Copied from Teresa. Who knew I would be a maid of honor before you huh?

Pre-Wedding --Organizes bridal shower and bachelorette party
--Offers help on any wedding-related task
--Assists bride in selection of gown and bridesmaids dresses
--Coordinates with bridesmaids to ensure timely/accurate ordering of bridesmaids dresses, and their timely attendance at wedding related functions
--Attend rehearsal dinner
--Keep the bride calm and focused throughout the process. Provide a kind and understanding ear to listen to her vent
--Compile list of gifts received at pre-wedding events along with names of givers to help the bride prepare for writing thank you notes.

During Wedding
--Helps the bride get into her wedding dress
--During ring exchange, stands closest to bride and holds bride's bouquet. May also hold the groom's ring
--Rearranges/fluffs the bride's dress during ceremony
--Helps bustle the bride's gown after the ceremony
--Gives a speech at reception, after the Best Man's speech
--In most cases, signs the marriage certificate as a witness.
--Dance with the best man during the first official dance (traditional but optional)
--Carry or keep track of the bride's purse, or the MOH may carry her own purse with a few essentials for the bride inside (makeup, medications, tissues, etc.)
--Transport gifts to the bride/grooms home after the wedding (unless another individual has been selected for this task)

The crossed out things are what I didn't do or can't be doing. I feel so bad, but I really don't have time. I used to love going to weddings. Now I realize what a pain in the ass planning a wedding can be...and I haven't even done anything! I'm just stressed about about the prospect of everything.

Years ago it was dream that she had and I'm so happy and proud that it's happening. She will know and she'll be happy as well.

If someone can't look beyond the superficial and be happy for you, then they don't really care about you...even if they are family. Fuck family, sometimes it's overrated... well, in the sense that some people put family on such a high pedestal, saying blood is thicker than water/family is all you've got/etc...I have a big family, some people I only see every wedding or funeral. I would definately put my friends over such relatives. I think I'm sounding too negative... I love my family (most of them)!

On another note, I know it's totally possible for me to take part in a wedding on a Friday evening in Modesto, then attend a baby shower Saturday afternoon in Sac, and finally show up at house warming party Saturday (not sure of time yet...probably evening) in San Jose...but the question is do I want to? Why is everyone getting married, popping kids, and buying houses in August? Not only is my friend having a baby, so is my co-worker, and Andy's co-worker. I'm gonna be broke buying all these presents this month.

50 days until school starts. i don't think i will remember how to study all day from getting home until going to sleep.
40 days until i move. i have to pack my life into little cardboard boxes soon...when it feels like i just unpacked and have adjusted.
23 days until mexico. finally booked it! i think all 3 of us need a vacation away from here...
20 days until i say goodbye at work. i'll be really sad. i love all of them and i've grown to become really close with some of them. we laugh and joke about everything. they helped me learn so much about the pharmacy world and life in general. i go shopping a lot with one of them and we talk all the time. i'll miss her...they call her my other 1/2 at work.
6 days until vegas. gotta rest to prepare myself for crazy fun that weekend :) i've been so tired and sleepy lately.
